Hair always looks and feels its best when it is in great condition – soft, smooth and visibly shiny – and the arrival of our fabulous new hair oil helps all of us achieve this.
Hair is mostly made up of keratin, a fibrous protein that also helps form our nails and epidermis (top layer of skin). The strands of hair that we see are actually made up of dead cells and each hair shaft can be divided into layers like a stick of rock: the cuticle on the outside made up of overlapping cells; the cortex in the middle which is the largest part and contains the pigments which determine our hair colour; and the inner spongy, semi-hollow section called the medulla.
Although technically dead, hair strands can still be affected by outside influences such as pollution, harsh chemicals and heat-styling – hardly surprising when you consider that the hair can reach up to a staggering 160°C as a result of hair-straighteners, blow-drying or heat treatments. This intense heat reduces the water content of the hair causing the keratin to soften and the cuticle to crack and erode, leaving us with damaged hair that looks stiff, dull, limp and brittle.

The brand new addition to our haircare family – Botanical Shine Nourishing Hair Oil – has been tested in salon-based trials and found not only to help protect hair against damage caused by heat-styling but also to actually reduce the amount of time needed to blow-dry hair. Just like our Botanical Shine Shampoo, it’s suitable for all hair types, and can be used on wet or dry hair to deliver a host of benefits including smoothing the appearance of split ends, controlling and taming frizz, increasing manageability and leaving hair with an instant natural-looking, brilliant shine. A truly fantastic multi-tasker (like so many other products in our range!).
Botanical trio
We’ve taken great care to create a lightweight formulation that won't weigh your hair down, and have also selected a blend of three special botanical ingredients for their smoothing, softening, moisturising and shine-boosting properties. Kenyan yangu oil will be familiar to all those who already love our Botanical Shine Conditioners and Treatment. We've also sourced a high quality coconut oil, cold-pressed on the Kenyan coast within an hour of the nut being opened. Last but not least, we’ve included the amazing radish seed oil, one of our newest ingredients to help give the hair gloss.
Root care
The living part of our hair lies at the roots within our follicles, supplied with vital nutrients such as vitamins, water and oxygen by the surrounding network of blood capillaries. You can help increase blood flow to the follicles with a wonderfully relaxing, tension-relieving scalp massage. Simply take a few minutes to place your fingertips at the front of your hairline and extend and contract your fingers as you work very slowly over the crown and down towards your neck. Pure bliss.
